The Neumühlebach is a creek with the longest upper course about 2.5 km long in the district of the Abtsgmünder suburb of Pommertsweiler in the Ostalbkreis in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows from the left and southwest in the steel pond into the upper Bühler near Neumühle . The name of its main right upper course Stahlbach is partly used for the entire course of the brook.

geography

The Neumühlebach arises on the eastern edge of the clearing island around the Abtsgmünd-Pommertsweiler hamlet of Hinterbüchelberg at about 449  m above sea level. NHN from the confluence of its two source streams at the northeast foot of the Büchelberger Ridge .

Spring streams

Stahlbach

This right upper course of the main line rises a little north of the hamlet of Straßdorf next to the district road K 3244, which runs from there to Hinterbüchelberg, at about 469  m above sea level. NHN . At first it runs alongside it and drains a chain of small ponds, then it turns to the northeast along the edge of the Wolfshölzles on the east bank and moves inside the forest edge to the confluence with the other source branch. It is 0.9 km long and drains about 0.8 km².

Gerfeldbach

The left upper reaches of Gerfeldbach is only 0.6 km long and only covers a partial catchment area of around 0.3 km². It begins its course on the southern edge of the larger northern group of houses in the hamlet of Hinterbüchelberg at about 470  m above sea level. NHN and immediately flows through a small pond. On the first half of the run, it is partly bumpy or quite inconspicuous, it runs in east to north-easterly directions.

course

At the tip of a field wedge east of Hinterbüchelberg between the forests Wolfshölzle in the south and Hofholz , the two source streams run at almost 449  m above sea level. NHN together. The Neumühlebach created there then meanders through the forest to the east-northeast and turns before crossing a paved forest path from Hinterbüchelberg to the Pommertsweiler hamlet Wildenhof on the northeast. Then the approximately 1.0 km long Höllebach flows from the right from the southwest, a forest stream through the adjacent Gewann Hölle on the right and the only significant tributary. Soon the forest clears and the Neumühlebach emerges into the silting zone of the southwest bay of the Stahlweiser , the (formerly) 4.7 hectare and last pond in the chain of the Hammerschmiedesees , which is traversed by the upper Bühler , into which it flows after a run from - together with Stahlbach - 2.4 km in length to below 430  m above sea level. NHN flows.

The main strand runs through its gradient of just over 39 meters in altitude with a mean bottom gradient of over 16 ‰.

Catchment area

The Neumühlebach drains 2.1 km² of the sub-area Sulzbacher Wald, part of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains natural area, approximately northeast to the upper Bühler. Its most prominent watershed limits its catchment area in the southwest, it runs on the narrow plateau of the Büchelberger Ridge and separates the catchment area of the Kocher far above the tributary of the Bühler. Here the terrain in the Höfenberg area reaches a maximum height of around 553  m above sea level. NHN . Behind the left watershed in the northwest, the Steinbach runs roughly parallel and a little further down into the upper Bühler. The catchment area of the Lutstruter Bach borders on the right border near Straßdorf , then the Wildenweiherbach brook further towards the mouth, both of which flow into the Bühler above.

The catchment area extends on the Büchelberger Grat up to the Black Jura , from which an erosion-resistant rock layer gave rise to the steep sloping layer in front of it, which goes down to the Mittelkeuper , where the source streams only emerge over 80 meters below the highest point. The estuary is also still in the Mittelkeuper. To the right of the only larger tributary, Höllebach, lies a small layer island Goldshöfer Sande on a ridge in front of the Wildenweiherbach .

A little more than half of the catchment area is covered by forest. The north-eastern catchment area is almost completely enclosed by a forest area, there is also a forest area on the steep slope on this side of the Büchelberger Ridge. Most of the corridor is meadows, but the lower Keuperstufe on the Büchelberger Grat is under the plow. There, with the small hamlet of Hohenhöfen, is the highest settlement area in the catchment area. Part of the hamlet of Straßdorf and Hinterbüchelberg near the origins of the upper reaches are located in the catchment area on its slope or foot. Otherwise there are no settlements in it. It is entirely in the Pommertsweiler suburb of the Abtsgmünd community.
