geography

course

The Steinbach begins its permanent course about 200 meters north of the outskirts of the Abtsgmünder hamlet Hinterbüchelberg in a meadow next to the Wertfeld in a ditch that starts there at about 467  m above sea level. NHN ; further uphill, a ditch that was last interrupted at about 50 meters and previously about 200 meters long begins in a natural hollow about 10 meters higher at the western exit of Hinterbüchelberg in the direction of Hohenberg . The stream flows quite steadily to the northeast from start to finish.

After about half a kilometer through his meadow basin, last in Gewann Edel , he enters the forest west of the Uhlenberg ( 485.1  m above sea level ) and takes it to about 450  m above sea level. NHN an about 0.5 km long, nameless tributary from the west. After it has been crossed further down by a forest path, from which it is the Grenzbach between the communities Abtsgmünd on the right and Adelmannsfelden on the left, a shorter and unsteady water-bearing forest brook at 441.5  m above sea level flows on a now meandering route again from the left and west . NHN to. Along the longer Wolfsberg forest ridge on the left, the Steinbach reaches the edge of the forest to the meadow on the left bank after it has changed completely to Adelmannsfeldener district. The Steinbach flows about 0.3 km further down to 416.9  m above sea level. NHN next to a dirt road bridge about 200 meters from the outskirts of the Adelmannfelden hamlet Bühler on the opposite slope of the river from the left and southwest into the upper Bühler .

The Steinbach is 2.3 km long in a steady course and flows after this in a mean slope of about 22 ‰ traversed route about 50 meters below its source.

Catchment area

The Steinbach drains about 1.4 km² of the sub-area Sulzbacher Wald, part of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains natural area, about northeast to the upper Bühler. Its catchment area extends with the contour of a narrow spindle almost 3 km far from its highest point at about 554  m above sea level. NHN on the south-western tip close to the highest point of the Büchelberger ridge on the Höfenberg to the confluence at the other tip. Following the southeastern right watershed, a long catchment area borders the Neumühlebach , a left Bühler tributary further up. Behind the left of the example in the opposite direction to only collects cooker pulling Rötenbach the drain, later a nameless, now back to Buhler Buhler further down from the hamlet to the Hof Hirschberg ongoing forest stream.

The catchment area extends on the Büchelberger Grat up to the Black Jura , from which the terrain descends in steep layers to the Mittelkeuper , where only almost 90 meters in altitude emerges below the highest point of the Steinbach, which also flows into the Mittelkeuper.

A little more than half of the catchment area is covered by forest. The north-eastern catchment area is almost closed by a forest area, next to it there is a hillside forest on the slope of the Büchelberger ridge. The part of the land consists mainly of meadows, but the lower Keuperstufe is on the Büchelberger Grat under the plow and there are also fields on the edge hill Wertfeld near Hinterbüchelberg.

Except for the single house Spiegelrain on the slope below the Höfenberg on the left and a few buildings in Hinterbüchelberg on this side of the right watershed, the area is completely unpopulated. About two thirds of it on the upper and right of the middle course belong to the Pommertsweiler submarket of Abtsgmünd, the remaining third to Adelmannsfelden.

Protected areas

Above the stream origin is the major part of the catchment area in the conservation area Büchel Berger ridge and the surrounding area , mündungsnah a small part in the conservation area Upper Bühlertal and surroundings . The entire catchment area lies in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park .
