history
The main offices of the armed forces were set up in 1956 as parts of the military offices (later the Army Office , Air Force Office and Naval Office ) and were subordinate to them until they were dissolved. The former main offices of the Army (SDH) and the Air Force (SDL) were located in Cologne , while the main office of the Navy (SDM) was in Wilhelmshaven . The personnel management of the members of the armed forces base and the central medical service was integrated into the main office of the army in 2002.
On December 31, 2006, the three main offices of the Army, Navy and Air Force were dissolved and merged into the main office of the Bundeswehr (SDBw) in the Liège barracks ( Nippes district / Longerich district ), which was put into service on October 5, 2006 . Since April 1, 2012, the main office of the Bundeswehr has been assigned to the personnel department; a measure that resulted from the realignment of the Bundeswehr .
On December 1, 2012 the SDBw was dissolved; their tasks were taken over by the Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr .
