Stanley Tigerman
Stanley Tigerman (born September 20, 1930 in Chicago , Illinois , † June 3, 2019 ibid) was an American architect , designer , architectural theorist and essayist .
Life
Tigerman studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Chicago Institute of Design (New Bauhaus) at the University of Illinois and at Yale University . After a few years in the US Navy , he worked as a draftsman and designer in various architectural offices. Since 1964 he had his own office in Chicago called Stanley Tigerman and Associates Ltd. , now Tigerman McCurry Architects . Tigerman taught at several US universities, most notably at the University of Illinois at Chicago . In 1997 he was made an honorary member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) .
Tigerman died in Chicago in June 2019 at the age of 88 of complications from a lung disease .
Archeworks
In 1984 Tigerman founded the Archeworks design school together with designer Eva L. Maddox , in which students work in teams with non-profit partners to develop design solutions for social and ecological purposes. The design school, which is run as a non-profit organization, is financed by foundations, companies, tuition fees and donations.

In urban planning , for example, he was involved in the Chicago Central Area Plan , the 1992 Chicago World's Fair and the land use plan for high-density, mixed use in the London boroughs of King's Cross and St Pancras .
