Stefan Müller (born September 3, 1975 in Neustadt an der Aisch ) is a German politician ( CSU ). From October 2009 to December 2013 and again since October 2017 he is the parliamentary director of the CSU regional group in the German Bundestag .

Life

education

After completing secondary school in 1992 at the Staatliche Realschule Herzogenaurach , Müller completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Dresdner Bank in Erlangen by 1995 . He then did his military service and returned to Dresdner Bank in 1996 as a customer advisor. In 1998, Müller completed part-time training at the banking academy with the professional title of bank specialist (IHK) . From 1997 to 2002 he worked at Raiffeisenbank Seebachgrund eG , most recently as a private customer advisor.

Party career

Müller joined the Junge Union (JU) as a student in 1990 and the CSU in 1991. From 1992 to 1995 he was district chairman of the Schüler Union in Middle Franconia and from 1995 to 2002 chairman of the JU district association Erlangen-Höchstadt . From July 2003 to November 2007 he was deputy state chairman of the JU Bavaria . At the state assembly on November 24, 2007 he was elected as the successor to Manfred Weber as state chairman. In 2009 he was re-elected to this office. Due to age, he no longer competed in 2011. In addition, Müller has been a member of the CSU Policy Commission since 2006 and the CSU Presidium since 2008.

Activity as a member of parliament

From 1996 to 2006, Müller was a member of the municipal council of Großenseebach , and in this role he was also a member of the community assembly of the Heßdorf administrative community from 1996 to 2002 . Since 2002 he has been a district councilor for the Erlangen-Höchstadt district.

Müller has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002 . From November 2005 to March 2009 he was chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the committee for labor and social affairs and deputy labor and social policy group spokesman. From March 2009 to October 2009 he was the education and research policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group.

From October 2009 to December 2013, Stefan Müller was the parliamentary director of the CSU regional group in the German Bundestag. He was also chairman of the German-Korean parliamentary group and remained a member of the group in the 18th electoral term.

Stefan Müller has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Erlangen constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag elections , he achieved 47.4%, 45.1% in 2009 and 48.5% of the first votes in 2013 .

With a voting result of 100%, Müller was again nominated as a candidate for election to the 19th German Bundestag at the federal electoral district conference of the Christian Socialists from Erlangen and Erlangen-Höchstadt .

In the CDU / CSU parliamentary group , Stefan Müller is an expert in the field of science and research. In his function as Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research , the thematic priorities in the 2013–2017 legislative period were vocational training, key technologies and innovation strategies, and energy and climate research.

Müller is a member of the European Union parliamentary group of the German Bundestag and the Board of Trustees of the Reading Foundation . He is also on the board of trustees of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) and deputy chairman of the German Foundation for Peace Research (DSF).

Private

Stefan Müller has been married since 2004 and has one daughter. In his free time, Müller does sports. In 2017 he took part in the Erlangen triathlon on the Olympic distance.
