Steinach bei Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a district of the municipality of Gallmersgarten in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Middle Franconia in Bavaria .

geography

In terms of its natural surroundings , the village of Steinach is located in the slightly hilly Gaulandschaft of Windsheimer Bucht a little north of the Frankenhöhe , which has its last wooded foothill in the spur of the Fuchsberg ( 447  m above sea level ) approx. 0.75 km south of the village. With its Vogelsang forest slope, it comes close to the edge of the village to less than 200 meters. Steinach a northeast incident covers a portion, not very high hill back in Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt lineup ), which on the south side of the low-stream is limited, and beyond in the Gipskeuper ( grave field formation passes), on the opposite side of this dewatering Ens , beyond whose loess sediment covers the landscape.

history

A Landwehr tower has stood on the site of the current location since 1567. On a historical map from the 19th century, there is only one train station in the local area without any residential buildings. Steinach is first mentioned by name in the census of 1861. The place was established in the municipality of Gallmersgarten.

The federal highway 470 leads to Burgbernheim (2.5 km northeast) or to junction 107 of the federal highway 7 (2 km west).

The place has a train station on the Neustadt (Aisch) –Steinach near Rothenburg , Steinach near Rothenburg – Dombühl and Treuchtlingen – Würzburg railway lines .
