Stephen Sama (born March 5, 1993 in Bamenda , Cameroon ) is a German football player who was a Cameroonian citizen before his naturalization .

Career

society

Sama played in his youth for two years each for Schwarz-Weiß Eppendorf, SG Wattenscheid 09 , VfL Bochum and Borussia Dortmund . In 2009 he moved to the youth department of Liverpool FC . During the summer break of 2011, he extended his contract with Liverpool until June 2014. On September 2, 2014, Sama signed a two-year contract with the second team at VfB Stuttgart .

Sama made his professional debut for VfB Stuttgart II on September 13, 2014 on the 9th matchday of the 2014/15 season in the 3rd division against Halleschen FC . on October 15, 2015, he extended his contract with Stuttgart until the end of June 2018. On August 8, 2016, he made his debut for the first team of VfB Stuttgart in the starting line-up.

In January 2017, Sama switched to SpVgg Greuther Fürth . He signed a contract with Fürth until June 30, 2019. On January 29, 2018, Sama was loaned to third division club VfL Osnabrück for the second half of the 2017/18 season.

In July 2018, Sama moved to Heracles Almelo .

National team

In 2009, Sama received the German citizenship required for his club change to Great Britain and was thus eligible to play for the DFB . On March 13, 2010, he made his debut for the German U-17 national team against Georgia . In the elite round of qualifying for the U-17 European Championship 2010 , Sama completed three more U-17 internationals for Germany. On May 18, 2011, he played an international match against Austria for Germany's U-18 national team . For Germany's U-19 national team , Sama played in qualifying matches for the 2011 and 2012 U-19 European Championships . In October 2013 he took part in a four-country tournament in Gemert with the German U-20 national team.

Others

Sama came to Germany at the age of eight. His brother Eric Yahkem and his cousin Josue-Serge Massoma were active in the Regionalliga West .
