location

The hamlet of Stephling is located about six kilometers east of Bogen a little north of the federal motorway 3 .

history

A Chuono de Stevening was probably the first documented member of the Frammelsberg family who established a benefit at the Stephlinger Church. After the Frammelsbergs died out around 1409, Stephling passed to the Lords of Degenberg and stayed with them until they died out in 1602. It then had the rank of Hofmark in the possession of the Bavarian Elector. In 1752 the place consisted of three properties.

When the community was formed in 1818/1821 Stephling came to the community of Degernbach . In 1840 the place had six houses and 23 residents. With the municipality of Degernbach, Stephling came to the city of Bogen on January 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

The more than five hundred year old Stephlinger Stephani ride, a ride with a horse blessing, withstood the uninterrupted tradition even the years of agricultural mechanization after the Second World War. Ecclesiastically, Stephling belongs to the parish Degernbach.
