Stockstadt recorder festival

The Stockstadt recorder festival takes place annually on the weekend after Ascension Day in Stockstadt am Rhein in the Altrheinhalle.

history

The recorder festival took place for the first time in 1985 in the Orangery in Darmstadt , from 1986 to 1996 in the Rüsselsheim City Theater . Since 1997 they have been taking place in the Altrheinhalle in Stockstadt. The event was initiated by the married couple Eva and Wilhelm Becker and built up over many years into one of the most renowned festivals of early music . The focus of the event is the concert series with international artists and ensembles who make music on historical or modern instruments. During the event there is a representative exhibition with instruments and music .

Artistic Director

From 1985 to 2016 the artistic direction was in the hands of Wilhelm Becker. Maurice Steger has been running the festival since 2017 .
