geography

Strehlow is 10 km southeast of Demmin and 16.5 km northwest of Altentreptow . The Strehlower Bach flows through the community , which later flows into the Augraben at the Leistenower Mühle . The community lies on a cut plateau from 40 to 50 m above HNH.

North of the Strehlower Bach, the Oser runs from Hohenbrünzow to south of Hohenmocker over 2.5 km, where many sand pits were used.

history

Strehlow is evidence of an ancient settlement in the area. To the north-west of the village there are 5 large stone graves from the Neolithic (4500 to 1800 BC) as preserved ground monuments.

In contrast, Strehlow was not listed in the Pomeranian documents until the mid-14th century. The Swedish matriculation cards from 1696 do not know the place either.

In 1739 the place was designated as a feudal manor with a farming village. The estate with 1051 acres, four farms with 396 acres and the Pfarracker have a total of 1455 acres of the Dorfmark. The village had two parts of ownership:

  • a) The water mill, oil mill and 3 farmers with 4 fireplaces belonged to the von Schwerin family
  • b) The Vorwerk and a farm with a total of 11 fireplaces belonged to the von Podewils family

In 1800 Wilhelm von Schwerin merged both parts with 13 fire places and 139 inhabitants on Janow.

In the Prussian original table sheet from 1835, a small estate and an elongated village facing south to north can be recognized as a street village. One kilometer west of the village lies the larger mill property in the valley of the Strehlower Bach.

In 1871 the place had two statistical parts: a) Village - 6 houses with 7 households and 47 inhabitants, in 1867 there were only 45; b) Good - 6 houses with 15 households and 77 inhabitants, in 1867 there were 81. All were members of the Protestant denomination.

The settlement was greatly changed in the Mestischblatt (MTB) of 1880 . At the northern exit of the village, the estate was large and compact. 3 farms can be seen in the village, the farm workers' cottages stood along the road. The mill plot with the water mill and the corresponding traffic jam was still there.

According to the list of properties from 1905, Strehlow had only 250 hectares and belonged to the Count of Schwerin-Ziethen, majorate on Wustrau. The steward in Strehlow was Dr. Louis von Schwerin in an independent position.

Strehlow was directly affected by the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone . The refugees now present here received land from the expropriated property and subsequently built new farmer settlements north and south of the former property. After 1960 all farmers were in an agricultural production cooperative (LPG), in the now enlarged village an agricultural plant was built in the remains of the property. The mill property was gone.

The West Pomeranian district of Demmin was assigned to the newly formed district of Neubrandenburg on July 25, 1952 after the states were dissolved . On June 12, 1994, the district was again referred to as a district since May 17, 1990. From then until the district reform in 2011, the area formed the district of Demmin.
