Stroitel ( Russian Строитель ) is a settlement in Tambov Oblast ( Russia ) with 18,437 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located about eight kilometers south of the center of the Tambov Oblast and Rajon Administrative Center and seven kilometers northwest of the city of Kotovsk , about two kilometers from the left bank of the Zna River.

Stroitel belongs to the Tambowski district and is the seat and only village of the rural municipality (selskoje posselenije) Zninski selsowet.

history

The place arose west of the village of Bokino, which had existed since 1638, from 1971 as a prefabricated housing estate, mainly for the employees of the industrial companies connected to the west in the vicinity of the city of Tambov. It was mainly a construction company, which is why the settlement was given the name Stroitel, Russian for 'construction workers' or 'builders'. At first the place belonged to the village soviet Bokino, in 1987 it was spun off into an independent village soviet.

economy

In the industrial zone west of the settlement, there are predominantly companies in the building materials and construction industry, including those for silicate bricks and aerated concrete, asphalt, prefabricated houses and constructions as well as insulation materials.

The Bokino train station is located near Stroitel on the Tambov - Balaschow  - Kamyshin line . The road from Tambov to Kotowsk runs through the village, to the north the feeder from the M6 highway leads past the center of Tambov.
