Rschaksa ( Russian Ржа́кса ) is an urban-type settlement in the Tambov Oblast in Russia with 5196 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 75 km as the crow flies southeast of the Tambov Oblast Administrative Center . It is located between the right tributary of the same name, Rschaksa of the Worona, and the Sawala, which flows about 5 km to the west .

Rschaksa is the administrative center of Rschaksinski Rajons and the seat and only locality of the municipality (gorodskoje posselenije) Rschaksinski possowet.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1822 as a village in Ujesd Kirsanow of the Tambow governorate . From the late 19th century its importance grew after there is a station at the newly built railway Tambov - Balashov  - Kamyshin had been opened.

In 1928 Rschaksa became the administrative seat of a newly created Rajons named after him. In 1968 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.

Rschaksa has a train station at kilometer 84 of the Tambov - Balashov - Kamyshin railway line opened in 1894.

A regional road runs through the settlement, which branches off the federal trunk road R208 Tambow - Pensa about 60 km north in Rasskasowo and continues southwards along the railway line via Uvarowo to Mutschkapski . In a westerly direction there is a connection to the R22 Kaspi , which is 25 km away .
