Sunways Intersun (officially Sunways Intersun Havacilik , trading as Sunways ) was a Turkish charter airline that ceased operations in 1997.

history

Sunways Intersun was founded on November 1st, 1994 in Istanbul as a subsidiary of the Turkish tourism group Tursem Group . The company offered charter flights for package travelers to Turkey, which were marketed through various group-owned tour operators in Denmark , Germany , Finland , Great Britain , Norway and Sweden . The start of flight operations took place on April 8, 1995 with three leased McDonnell Douglas MD-83 . Another aircraft of this type was added to the fleet in March 1996. In 1997, the company also briefly leased Boeing 757 aircraft from its Swedish sister company Sunways Airlines .

The Turkish parent company Tursem Group and its European subsidiaries filed for bankruptcy in September 1997 . The airline Sunways Intersun ceased operations in October 1997.
