history

Borajet was founded in 2008 by the Turkish businessman Yalçın Ayaslı, who lives in the USA , and began flight operations on May 7, 2008. The ATR 72-500 were taken over by Alitalia Express . In 2014 all ATR 72-500 were replaced by Embraer 190 .

The company was taken over by the Turkish SBK Holding at the beginning of 2017 for a price of US $ 260 million; Sezgin Baran Korkmaz had already joined the Borajet Board of Directors as Chairman of the SBK Board of Directors in the same function on December 30, 2016 .

The privately run Turkish regional airline BoraJet ceased its flight operations on April 24, 2017 due to necessary maintenance work on the aircraft and rebooked around 30,000 passengers. Of the 550 employees, 400 were given notice. A resumption of flight operations was planned for 2018.

Borajet flew to numerous destinations within Turkey and also to some destinations abroad, including small airports that do not justify operation with larger aircraft. With the three business aircraft were charter flights available.
