Super Mario Run ( Jap . スーパーマリオラン, Supa Mario Ran ) is a Jump 'n' Run - video game , which the Japanese video game company Nintendo has been developed and published. It is one of Nintendo's first mobile games .

The game was released on December 15, 2016 for the iOS operating system . The Android version was released on March 23, 2017.

Game mechanics

Super Mario Run is a platforming video game in which the player looks sideways at the scenery . The player takes on the role of the character Mario , who automatically runs from left to right in two-dimensional space. He overcomes small obstacles and gaps independently. The player has to press the touchscreen to jump bigger hurdles. The longer you touch the screen, the higher Mario jumps.

The iOS game received generally positive reviews from the critics upon its release with an aggregate score of 76% on Metacritic .

According to Nintendo, the free version had been downloaded over 200 million times by November 2017, but sales of the full version, which cost around € 10, are not satisfactory.
