Surfing Walk of Fame

The Surfing Walk of Fame is a walkway in Huntington Beach , California .

It begins on the Pacific Coast Highway and runs along Huntington Beach's Main Street. There are currently 162 memorial plaques set in the path, with which prominent surfers who played or still play an important role in the international surfing scene are honored (status: 12/2018). Based on the stars of the Hollywood Walk of Fame , the name of the honored surfer, the category and the year of appointment are engraved on the stone slabs.

The Surfing Walk of Fame is supported by sponsors like Billabong , Hurley , Jack's Surfboards, O'Neill , Quiksilver , Rip Curl , Vans , Volcom and the World Surf League (WSL). Along with the Surfers Hall of Fame, it is the most important memorial for surfers.

history

The Surfing Walk of Fame was founded in 1994 by former professional surfers and members of the International Surfing Museum in Huntington Beach and is dedicated to the Hawaiian surfing pioneer Duke Kahanamoku . Since the founding year, surfers have been honored in six different categories.
