In December 1999, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson tried to part ways with the manager Mathew Knowles , Beyoncé's father, who Luckett and Roberson believed was keeping too much of the profit and also preferred Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland . In February 2000, Luckett and Roberson were replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin , with the latter leaving the group in July 2000 after the group believed she had missed promo dates - she herself cited the negative mood in the group as the reason.
The following album was then produced by lead singer Beyoncé Knowles together with JR Rotem , other producers were Poke & Tone , Cory Rooney and Mark J. Feist . Five singles were released from Survivor , including Bootylicious and Independent Women Part 1 . The title track was also a success . In addition, the decision was made to cover the Bee Gees ' ballad , Emotion , and release it as a single.
