LaTavia Marie Roberson (* 1. November 1981 in Houston , Texas ) is an American R & B - singer . From 1990 to the end of 1999 she was a member of the successful girl group Destiny's Child , from 2001 to 2003 she was a member of the R&B girl group Anjel.

Life

Destiny's Child

In 1993 LaTavia Roberson became a member of the Girls Tyme dance group. The group made numerous small appearances in shopping malls in and around Houston / Texas and participated in talent competitions such as B. participated in Star Search . When a record deal was imminent ( Columbia Records ) the name of the group was changed to " Destiny's Child ", which from then on consisted of Beyoncé Knowles , Kelly Rowland , LeToya Luckett and La Tavia Roberson.

In 1997 they became world famous with their debut song No No No (feat. Wyclef Jean ) . More singles followed. Including Bills Bills Bills , which took first place in the US. At the height of their careers, two of the four members broke away from the group. In late 1999, Roberson and Luckett left the band because of a disagreement with manager Mathew Knowles. At the same time, Roberson gave up their long-standing friendship with Beyoncé and Kelly.

Anjel

So LaTavia and LeToya decided to found their own R&B girl group together after they were convinced by Brandon and Brian Casey of the R&B boy group Jagged Edge . The girl duo held auditions in the United States and eventually found another member: Naty Quinones from Atlanta . The group called itself Anjel and made their first public appearance on the red carpet of the Grammys in 2001. Anjel was already traded as a Destiny's Child copy, so it was decided to make a quartet out of the trio. Tiffany Beaudoin, a Houston singer , joined as a fourth member. Anjel started recording songs for an album in the studio. The group's first television appearance was in the remix music video Where The Party At? from Jagged Edge 2001. Suddenly the interest in the new group grew. Anjel appeared at various shows in the USA in 2002 and appeared in various US magazines. More than 20 songs have already been recorded and the debut album was about to be released. But after a conflict with the record company, Anjel dropped it. The group then disbanded. In 2003 this was officially confirmed by Anjel speakers.
