Susan Downey (* 6. November 1973 as Susan Levin ) is an American film producer .

life and career

Susan Levin graduated from the University of Southern California's School of Cinema and Television . After graduation, she began working in 1995 as a production assistant on Talia Shire's only directorial One Night Stand ( A hot affair ) and as a producer of the successful animated series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm (also 1995).

Levin then worked at Lawrence Kasanoffs Threshold Entertainment for the development of the film and television projects Duke Nukem , GI Joe and Zork . There she was also involved in the production of the films Mortal Kombat (1995) and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997), the TV series Mortal Kombat: Conquest (1998) and the feature film Beowulf (1999).

In June 1999 she moved to Joel Silver's production company Silver Pictures , where she became Vice President of Production . She led the development and production of films such as 13 Geister and Dominic Sena's Password: Swordfish (both 2001), co-produced Ghost Ship (2002) and Born 2 Die (2003), and produced Gothika (2003) and House of Wax (2005).

In 2003 Levin was named Executive Vice President of Production at Silver Pictures . In this role she develops film materials such as Wonder Woman , Superfly , Speedracer , Sgt. Rock and Dirty Dozen . She was executive producer on Shane Black's directorial debut Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (2005) and Oliver Hirschbiegel's The Invasion (2007). Also in 2007, she produced Neil Jordan's thriller The Brave One ( The Brave One ) with Jodie Foster in the title role.

She is also Co-President and Director of Development at Dark Castle Entertainment , the horror film division of Silver Pictures, founded in 1999 . For Dark Castle she produced, among others, Stephen Hopkins ' The Reaping (2007), Guy Ritchie's Rock N Rolla (2008), Dominic Sena's Whiteout (2009) and Jaume Collet-Serras Orphan - The Orphan (2009). She also produced Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes (2009) for Silver Pictures and was Executive Producer on The Book of Eli (2010) by Albert and Allen Hughes .

Private

On August 27, 2005, she married the actor Robert Downey junior . The couple have a son (* 2012) and a daughter (* 2014) together. The family lives in Brentwood .
