The Suterkopf near Haintchen in the Hessian district Limburg-Weilburg is 461.8  m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the Taunus low mountain range .

Naming

The origin of the name "Suter" is not exactly proven. Maybe he goes on wet, muddy forest below the mountain back and the wallowing of deer and wild boar .

The Suterkopf rises in the eastern Hintertaunus within the Taunus Nature Park . The summit of the mountain in the district of Haintchen is 1.6 kilometers (km) south of Haintchen and 3.3 km east-southeast of Eisenbach (both to Selters ) and 4 km north-northeast of Schwickershausen (to Bad Camberg ) and 2 km east-northeast of Hasselbach (to Weilrod ). The wooded mountain is part of the Feldberg-Langhals-Pferdskopf-Scholle , which separates the Emsbach valley from the Weil valley, and is one of the highest north-western mountains of this Hochscholle . About 0.8 km to the north is the Koberg ( 460.5  m ) and 2.1 km (as the crow flies ) south-southeast is the Kuhbett ( 525.6  m ). The Eisenbach rises a little northeast of the Suterkopf and its tributary Hauserbach to the southeast .

Natural allocation

The Suterkopf belongs to the natural area main unit group Taunus (No. 30), in the main unit Eastern Hintertaunus (302) to the natural area Pferdskopf-Taunus (302.6).

Observation tower

During the Second World War, there was an observation tower on the Suterkopf with a wide view of the surrounding area. From there there was a dedicated telephone line to Haintchen to report fire and smoke in the area. After the end of the war, the tower was dismantled for safety reasons.
