The Sweet Soul Music Revue is a music show produced in Germany, which was launched in 2009 by Klaus Gassmann and can be seen all year round in Germany and other European countries. history

The former SAP manager Klaus Gassmann came into contact with soul music through the American radio station AFN. After a concert by Wilson Pickett in February 1968 in Frankfurt's Jahrhunderthalle, he founded a soul band himself, with which he played in American clubs in the southwest of the Republic. In 2006 the idea of ​​putting a soul tribute show on stage matured. After a three-year concept and development phase, the Sweet Soul Music Revue celebrated its premiere in the Capitol in Mannheim in 2009. Since then, the show has been and can be seen year-round in Germany and other European countries. She guested u. a. more than 20 times in the Theaterhaus Stuttgart and several times in the Deutsches Theater in Munich and in the König-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen.

The show

The Sweet Soul Music Revue tells the story of soul music and authentically presents the music of soul greats such as Ray Charles, The Temptations, Sam Cooke , The Four Tops , Etta James , Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Ike & Tina Turner , Wilson Pickett, The Platters , Otis Redding , Stevie Wonder , Marvin Gaye , Gladys Knight etc. The revue band consists of about 10 musicians. The band is known under the name Soulfinger in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. There are also up to 10 lead vocals and special guests such as u. a. Harriet Lewis from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), Marites Dabasol-Smith (Philippines), Lerato Sebele (South Africa), Jimmy James from New York City, Derrick Alexander from Detroit (Michigan), Alex "U-Jean" Hutson from Atlanta (Georgia), Daniel Stoyanov from Sophia (Bulgaria) and Sir Waldo Weathers from Nashville (Tennessee), singer and saxophonist, who u. a. Toured with James Brown for 15 years. The soloists are supplemented and supported by 3 background singers and up to 4 dancers.

As hosts, the TV presenter, actor, singer and entertainer Ron Williams from Oakland (California) and the singer Stevie Woods from Chatham (Virginia) alternate through the evening, who also interpret songs by Ray Charles and Marvin Gaye.
