Sylvain Dufresne (born July 24, 1978 in Waterloo , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player . Since 2011 he has been under contract with the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble in the Ligue Magnus .

Career

Dufresne began his career in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League in the team of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens , for which he played until 1997. The right-handed shooter then moved to league rivals Sherbrooke Faucons , where he was the best defender of his team on points both in 1997 and a year later. In 1999 Dufresne signed a contract with the Baton Rouge Kingfish from the East Coast Hockey League , which he left after two seasons to hire the Flint Generals from the United Hockey League . During this time he was also in the American Hockey League for the Hamilton Bulldogs and played there seven games.

After further games for Toledo Storm from the ECHL, the Canadian moved back to the AHL, where he went on the ice for two years with the Rochester Americans and one season with the Springfield Falcons . In 2007 the first move to the Central Hockey League was to the Odessa Jackalopes, which Dufresne left after 22 games and went to the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen for the Herning Blue Fox . With the team he was 2008 Danish champion .

In the 2009/10 season Dufresne was in the squad of the Eispiraten Crimmitschau from the 2nd Bundesliga , which left after the season and moved to SG Pontebba from the Italian A1 series . The Canadian also stayed a season in Italy before signing a contract with the Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble in Ligue Magnus in April 2011 .
