In May 2017, Pantel shared an article on Alternative für Deutschland on her Facebook page , which denounced the Bundestag member Volker Beck as an alleged advocate of unpunished sexual intercourse with children. Beck had written a text contribution for the anthology published in 1988 "The Pedophile Complex". He had already distanced himself several times from this text, which had been changed without his knowledge. Pantel nevertheless argued that she had "not yet heard an official statement from Mr. Beck and that is why the topic is still topical for me", and that sharing the AfD article was unintentional because she was "not so technically adept".

"Half-moon dispute" in Neuss

After a CDU city council candidate of Turkish origin had decorated the CDU logo with a crescent moon during the election campaign, Pantel warned against a realignment of her party: "We have to look: Where do we orientate ourselves, who is our electorate and whether minorities do not dominate majorities." Kölner Express she said: “Our Basic Law is based on Christian values. Whoever comes to us has to accept that. I think a lot of people are afraid of Islam. ”In the past, she had repeatedly asked not to accept radical Muslims into the party. Following criticism from Bülent Arslan , Pantel made it clear on its website that it did not warn against religious people but against extremists. Radical Turkish nationalists like the Gray Wolves should not be equated with other Muslim citizens. For her, it is not a question of a particular belief, but of attitudes towards democracy, the constitution, law and society.
