The synagogue in Göcklingen , a local community in the Südliche Weinstrasse district in Rhineland-Palatinate , was built around 1850. The derelict synagogue at Schulstrasse 17 / corner Heuchelheimer Strasse is a protected cultural monument .

History and description

The gable, two-storey plastered building still has several arched and segmented arched windows that are reminiscent of its use as a place of worship.

When the number of Jewish parishioners declined sharply at the end of the 19th century and no minyan was established, the building was sold to a winemaker who used the former synagogue as a farm building. The original entrance on the street side was bricked up and later partially bricked up with glass blocks . In the 1980s, apartments were set up in the attic. The remaining painting on the ceiling of the prayer room was removed.

A simple information board is attached to the building.
