Szentpéterfa ( German Prostrum , Croatian Petrovo Selo ) is a municipality in Vas County in western Hungary . It is three kilometers east of the Burgenland border between Szombathely and Körmend , on the Pinka River . The population in 2011 was 957.
history
The place is already inhabited in Roman times. In the first written document in 1221 he is mentioned as Ecclesia S. Petri. 80% of the inhabitants are of Croatian descent.
The village came to Austria in the autumn of 1921 according to the treaties of St. Germain, 1919, and Trianon, 1920, with large parts of German-West Hungary ( Burgenland ) , but in 1923 at the suggestion of the Burgenland provincial government in exchange for the villages of Rattersdorf and Liebing Güns ( Kőszeg ) reassigned to Hungary. Its neighboring communities to the north and south in the lower Pinkatal, Eberau and Moschendorf , remained with Austria.

The Roman Catholic church from the 15th century was converted into a baroque church in the 17th century.
