TF Callahan

Timothy F. Callahan (born March 1, 1856 in Lewiston , Maine , † October 22, 1934 , ibid) was an American businessman and politician who was Maine State Auditor from 1913 to 1915 .

Life

TF Callahan was born in Lewiston, Maine to John Callahan and Margaret Murphy. There he ran a department store together with his brother Eugene Callahan in the Callahan Block , in which hats, coats and other men's goods were sold. He also worked as a real estate broker and insurance agent.

As a member of the Republican Party , he was a member of the Lewiston City Council from 1883 to 1886, the Lewiston Water Commissioner from 1885 to 1891, and served in the 62nd House of Representatives from 1885 to 1891 in the Maine House of Representatives . He was City Treasurer of Lewiston from 1894 to 1904 and Treasurer of the Maine State Fair from 1907 to 1921. He served as director of CMG Hospital in 1905 and in the same year he was trustee of the People's Savings Bank. He was a Maine State Auditor from 1913 to 1915 . He was a delegate to the National Assembly of the Republican Party of Maine in 1920, 1924 and 1928.

TF Callahan married Mary E. McVay in 1885. They had three children. He died on October 22, 1934 in Lewiston, Maine. His grave is in Mount Hope Cemetery in Lewiston, Maine.
