Michael A. Napolitano

Michael A. Napolitano (* 2 September 1908 in Portland , Maine ; † October 2000 in Augusta , Maine) was an American politician who from 1957 to 1965 and from 1969 to 1970 Maine state auditor and 1967-1968 Maine State Treasurer was.

Life

Michael A. Napolitano was born in Portland, Maine to Barbado and Concetta Napolitano. He attended school in Portland and graduated from Cheverus High School in 1927. He then studied at the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance until 1929.

As a member of the Republican Party , he worked for the Department of Audit from 1934 and from 1951 to 1957 he was State Deputy State Auditor. From 1955 to 1958 he was the chairman of the Republican City Committee of Augusta. He served on the Augusta Council from 1948 to 1954 and was President of the Board of Alderman from 1953 to 1954. There he was Chairman of the Finance Committee. In the Republican Party he was State Committee Treasurer from 1958 to 1968.

He was elected State Auditor in 1957 and held this position until 1865. He was State Treasurer of Maine from 1967 to 1968, then from 1969 to 1970 again State Auditor. Napolitano belonged to the Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Columbus Knights .

Napolitano married Rose Pelton and had a son and a daughter with her. He died in his Augusta home in 2000. His grave is in the Old St Mary's Cemetery in Augusta.
