Abner B. Thompson

Abner B. Thompson (born September 23, 1797 in Middleborough , Massachusetts , † August 4, 1871 in Brunswick , Maine ) was an American businessman , general and politician who was Maine State Treasurer in 1831 .

Life

AB Thompson was born in Middleborough to Benjamin Thomson and Mary Bourn. He moved to Brunswick, Maine in 1817. There he worked as a businessman. He was a co-owner of the Whybo Company, a mill, and other businesses. Thompson was a member of the Maine Militia , he entered as a private and rose to the rank of general. He was the adjutant general of Maine for eight years.

He served in the Maine Senate for one year and was Treasurer of Maine in 1831. Thompson was a member of the Mason United Lodge in Brunswick and was Grand Master and Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Maine from 1855 to 1856.

AB Thompson was married to Eliza Williams (1801-1852). They had four daughters and one son. He died on August 4, 1871. His grave is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brunswick.
