Terry Hayes (politician)

Teresea M. "Terry" Hayes is an American politician who has been Maine State Treasurer since 2015 .

Life

Terry Hayes graduated from Bowdoin College in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in government. In 2014 it acquired the Thomas College the Master of Business Administration . In addition to her political career, she worked as a teacher, employee in adult education and in the real estate sector.

As a member of the Democratic Party , Hayes served in the Maine House of Representatives from 2006 to 2014 . Her constituency includes the towns of Buckfield , Hartford , Paris and Sumner in Oxford County . In 2014 she stood as a non-party candidate, nominated by the Republican Party against the previous incumbent Neria Douglass and won the election to State Treasurer of Maine. She is the first non-party incumbent.

Terry Hayes is married to Steve Hayes and has three children.
