Elmer E. Newbert

Elmer Ellsworth Newbert (born November 15, 1861 in Waldoboro , Maine , † March 20, 1939 in Augusta , Maine) was an American politician who was Maine State Treasurer from 1915 to 1916 .

Life

Elmer E. Newbert was born in Waldoboro to Joseph Walter Newbert and Olive C. Young.

As a member of the Democratic Party, Newbert was Mayor of Augusta from 1913 to 1914 and Treasurer of Maine from 1915 to 1916. In 1918 he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the United States Senate .

In 1882 Elmer E. Newbert married Ada Belle Levensalor. They had four children. He died in Augusta in 1939. His grave is in the Forest Grove Cemetery in Augusta.
