Henry Beck

Henry E. Murphy Beck (born June 6, 1986 in Waterville , Maine ) is an American lawyer and politician. He has been acting Maine State Treasurer since 2019 .

Life

Beck was born in Waterville in 1986. He attended Mt. Merici Catholic School and Waterville Senior High School. He then studied at Colby College . He graduated from the University of Maine's School of Law . Beck worked as a lawyer with a private law firm. He also graduated from the Muskie School of Public Service . He started his political career in Waterville City Council in 2005. In 2008 he was elected to the House of Representatives in Maine as a member of the Democratic Party , where he represented Waterville and Oakland . At the time he was still studying at Colby College.

On December 6, 2018, he was elected Maine State Treasurer to succeed Terry Hayes . He took office on January 2, 2019.
