Leighton Cooney

H. Leighton Cooney (* 1944 in Maine ) is an American politician who was Maine State Treasurer from 1976 to 1978 .

Life

H. Leighton Cooney Jr. was born in Maine to Leighton Hischer Cooney and Patricia Blaker.

He attended Lake Forest College in Illinois and graduated in 1966.

As a member of the Democratic Party , he was a member of the Maine House of Representatives from 1970 to 1976 and from 1976 to 1978 he was Maine State Treasurer. He was elected to office without having any special knowledge of bookkeeping.

H. Leighton Cooney Jr. is married to Holly Burton.
