Silas C. Hatch

Silas Clinton Hatch (born March 28, 1821 in Bangor , Maine , † July 27, 1890 ibid) was an American businessman and politician who was Maine State Treasurer from 1874 to 1876 .

Life

Silas C. Hatch was born in Bangor, Maine to Silas Hatch and Mary Curry. He attended school in Bangor and then studied at Gorham Seminary.

He opened a shop in Bangor in 1845 and operated it until 1870. Hatch was a member of the City Government for fourteen years, the Common Council and the Board of Aldermen for seven years each. He was a City Assessor for eight years and was a member of the Executive Council in 1871, 1872 and 1878. He was Maine State Treasurer from 1874 to 1876. In the presidential election in 1856 he was an elector for Millard Fillmore . He was a member of the Bangor City Assembly from 1873 to 1874 and 1881 to 1882. He was chairman of the city assembly in 1882.

Silas C. Hutch died in Bangor on July 27, 1890. His grave is in Mount Hope Cemetery in Bangor.
