Tajra is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Tajra is the second largest town in the canton of Itapaya and is located in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Sipe Sipe in the province of Quillacollo . The village is located at an altitude of 2,470  m in a basin on the right, southern bank of the Río Tapacarí , which flows into the Río Rocha at Tajra , the main source of the Bolivian Río Grande .

Tajra is located in the Bolivian Cordillera Central in the transition area to the Bolivian lowlands. The region has a typical time-of-day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

The mean average temperature of the region is around 20 ° C (see Capinota climate diagram) and fluctuates only slightly between 16 ° C in June and July and a good 22 ° C in November and December. Tajra is 40 kilometers by road in a south-westerly direction from Cochabamba , the capital of the department.

From Cochabamba, the paved road Ruta 4 leads in a westerly direction via the town of Quillacollo to Parotani , where country roads to Capinota , Arque and San Pedro de Buena Vista branch off to the south . West of Parotani , Ruta 4 continues to Caracollo , where it meets Ruta 1 , which crosses the Altiplano from north to south and provides connections to La Paz , Oruro and Potosí .

Directly south of Parotani, Ruta 4 crosses the Río Tapacarí, and directly behind the bridge in Pirque , a paved side road branches off in an easterly direction and reaches Tajra after two kilometers and after another two kilometers Itapaya at the confluence of the Río Kakiari and the Río Rocha .
