The valley mountain is a 600.8  m above sea level. NHN , according to other sources, a 602  m high mountain in the Thuringian Slate Mountains above the village of Wittgendorf in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district .

From the highest point there is a view from the Sorbitztal to the Rennsteig . Despite the rather low height of 602 m, the ridge path of the Thuringian Forest can be seen through 7 valleys. A refuge just below the summit offers a view of Wittgendorf and, among other things, of its large neighbor, the Quittelsberg ( 708.8  m ), which is over 100 m higher . On the north side there is a settlement with around 20 inhabited bungalows.

Small streams arise around the mountain that flow either into the white or black Sorbitz .
