  FI 7th 13/2004 (4 weeks)

As a result of the rapidly growing popularity of Ensiferum, mainly due to the very successful debut album Ensiferum , the single was very popular, so that it entered the Finnish singles charts at number 7 in March 2004 and stayed there for 4 weeks. The reviews of the single were nonetheless mixed.

The author Wehrmut from the webzine voenger.de describes the song Tale of Revenge as a typical Ensiferum song that is worth listening to; the Metallica cover, on the other hand, is atypical (a comparison with Manowar is drawn) and uninteresting. So you can buy the single to complete the collection, but it is not really needed.

The conclusion on the song Tale of Revenge by Stefan Popp from the webzine metal1.info was much more positive :

"" Tale Of Revenge "[goes] a little more leisurely [...]. Here you step from a quiet number over an emotional middle section completely unpredictably to a Melodic Death cracker of the first class with a lot of folk and an outstanding chorus including drum fireworks and a very dashing lead - acute danger of catching your ears! "
