Tamás Hajnal [ ˈtɒmaːʃ ˈhɒjnɒl ] (born March 15, 1981 in Esztergom ) is a former Hungarian football player .
Career
society
Hajnal started playing soccer at Zoltek SE Nyergesújfalu in 1985 and moved to Ferencváros Budapest at the age of nine . From July 1997 he played for half a year at Vác FC before moving to FC Schalke 04 in January 1998 . There he belonged to the professional squad from 1999 and made his debut on November 26, 1999 in the game against SSV Ulm in the Bundesliga . He was then mainly used in the second team and moved to Belgium in 2004 in the First Division for VV St. Truiden , for which he completed 20 games and scored six goals.
In 2006 Hajnal was signed by 1. FC Kaiserslautern . There the Hungarian scored a goal in his first competitive game on the first day of the 2nd league against Rot-Weiss Essen . During the season Hajnal became the playmaker of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. In the 2007/08 season he played at Karlsruher SC in the 1st Bundesliga. The then 26-year-old signed a three-year contract. In his Bundesliga debut for KSC at 1. FC Nürnberg (2-0) on August 12, 2007, he scored both goals. Together with Sebastian Freis he was KSC's most successful goalscorer this season.
In 2008 Hajnal made use of a contractual release clause and moved to Borussia Dortmund for the 2008/09 season . There he signed a four-year contract. In his first year in Dortmund he was part of the team and scored five goals in 30 games. Hajnal also played in the UEFA Cup with BVB . In the second leg of the first round against Udinese Calcio , Hajnal scored two goals in the stoppage times of the two halves and thus equalized the 0-2 first leg defeat, which means the game went into extra time, in which no further goal was scored. Borussia then retired on penalties. In October 2009, Hajnal underwent an operation after a ligament ruptured at his ankle and was forced to take a long break from playing. From January 2010 he was back in the BVB squad.
On January 31, 2011, he was loaned to VfB Stuttgart with immediate effect until the end of June . With VfB staying up in the 2010/11 season , an agreed purchase option came into effect, through which Hajnal finally switched to VfB and received a contract with Stuttgart until June 2013. Hajnal made a significant contribution to keeping VfB Stuttgart in the league. On January 7, 2013, Hajnal signed a new contract with VfB Stuttgart, initially valid until the end of June 2014, with an option for a further year.
On August 1, 2013, Hajnal moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for FC Ingolstadt 04 . He signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2016, which was terminated in August 2014. In December 2014 he signed a contract with Ferencváros Budapest and ended his active football career in summer 2018.
National team
Hajnal played 59 games for the Hungarian national team , in which he scored seven goals. He made his debut on October 9, 2004, when he came on as a substitute for Balázs Molnár in the 3-0 loss in the World Cup qualifier against Sweden in the 55th minute . He scored his first goal three years after his debut when he scored the decisive goal to make it 1-0 in the 89th minute in a friendly match against the Polish national soccer team .
