Taras Senkiw OM ( Ukrainian Тара́с Се́ньків ; born July 3, 1960 in Biloboschnyzja , Ukrainian SSR ) is Bishop of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Eparchy Stryj in Ukraine.

Life

Taras Senkiw was on May 28, 1982 by Bishop Pavlo Wasylyk for priests ordained. His priest training in Ukraine took place underground. Between 1989 and 1992 he was in several parishes as parish priest and Dean worked. In 1998 he obtained a master's degree in theology at the “ Theological Faculty of St. Cyril and Method ” at the Palacký University in Olomouc (Czech Republic) . In 2000 he was called to serve as a spiritual at the seminary of the Ivano-Frankivsk diocese . In 2002 he received his license in pastoral theology , and from 2006 to 2008 taught pastoral theology at the Theological Academy in Ivano-Frankivsk. On 1 October 2006, he resigned his vows for the monastic community of Paulaner ( religious codes : from OM).

At the suggestion of the Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGKK) he was elected auxiliary bishop in Stryj , this election was on May 22, 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI. approved. At the same time he appointed him titular bishop of Siccenna . The episcopal ordination took place on July 20, 2008, the main consecrator was Grand Archbishop of Kiev-Halytsch Lubomyr Cardinal Husar . He was assisted by the co-consecrators Bishop Julian Gbur of Stryj, Bishop Mykola Simkaylo of Kolomyia-Chernivtsi and Archbishop Volodymyr Viytyshyn of Ivano-Frankivsk.

On January 20, 2010, he was assigned to the sick Bishop Gbur as Apostolic Administrator sede plena . After the death of the diocesan bishop on March 24, 2011, he continued to run the diocese as Apostolic Administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis . On April 2, 2014, Pope Francis confirmed the election of Senkiv as the new bishop of Stryi. The inauguration took place on May 24th of the same year.

He is the chairman of the bishops' commission for evangelization issues in the UGCC.
