The good and the bad is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The by Hessian Radio Post produced the 1,129th episode scene and was on 19 April 2020 First erstgesendet. The Frankfurt investigator duo Janneke and Brix is investigating its eleventh case.

action

Badly hungover, after a night of drinking in office, Janneke and Brix investigate the murder of a man in a lonely forest hut who was obviously badly tortured. At the scene of the crime, police chief inspector Ansgar Matzerath confesses to having killed the man because he had held his wife prisoner for five days seven years ago and raped her several times. The colleagues try again and again to build bridges for Matzerath in favor of a milder version of the event. But this refuses all offers and strives for full punishment for his act. As a police officer, he has committed himself to law and order and therefore demands that this also be used against him. The public prosecutor also insists on the correct and objective execution of the investigator's service.

In this respect, the "crime scene" is less about the investigation than about the philosophy of police work. The scene is a police headquarters under renovation, in which the retired Inspector Bronski is quietly working on old cases, including the rape case Helen Matzerath. In addition, the police officers have to take part in a coaching seminar, the meaning of which is not immediately apparent to them - and also does nothing to solve the case, apart from the fact that the police officer and perpetrator Matzerath is also allowed to present his service ethics in front of a video camera.

Reviews

“In this 'Tatort', in which she [Hannelore Elsner] can be seen in her penultimate role, she once again leaves a strong impression as a relentless file-twister and an intrepid legal philosopher. Or more precisely: as someone who is looking for ultimate truths while the rest of the district only wants fresh wall paint. "

“The bold moral approach would get on your nerves terribly if this movie weren't both funny and totally crazy at the same time. Like two tastes that you have never had in your mouth at the same time. "

- Claudia Tieschky : Süddeutsche Zeitung

“It could end up as a boring, melancholy art-house crime thriller, but the film retains lightness, humor, and bizarre nature. It is funny and unconventional that the suspect moves around freely, goes to the canteen with the inspectors, and Brix gets a clean shirt out of the car. Especially brilliant are the dialogues, which, despite all their seriousness, never slide into stiff pathos or sound like made-up. "

- Thomas Gehringer : Tittelbach.tv

“Sure: A screenwriter (David Ungureit) sat for months on this episode, moaning about requests from the editorial team and production. A female director (Petra K. Wagner) toddled an entire crew for weeks and months. Plus great actors like Margarita Broich and Wolfram Koch, who as an investigative duo have to talk this terrible nonsense. In addition, hold on tight, it is one of the last films in which Hannelore Elsner [...] played before her death! And the ARD is bringing this episode on the very first anniversary of her death! Oh boy!"
