Teresa Piotrowska

Teresa Piotrowska (born February 5, 1955 in Tczew ) is a Polish politician of the Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ). From September 2014 to November 2015 she was Polish Minister of the Interior.

Life and political career

Teresa Piotrowska attended the general high school " Marie Skłodowska Curie " and then studied history and theology at the Academy for Catholic Theology (today Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw ). In 1980 she started working for the Catholic Association Pax . Teresa Piotrowska also worked as a primary school teacher in Bydgoszcz . In the 1990s she was a member of the Zjednoczenie Chrześcijańsko-Narodowe ( Christian National Union ) and was elected to the city council of Bydgoszcz in 1994, where she was appointed a board member of the city council. In 1998 she became a voivod of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship . In 1999, Teresa Piotrowska moved to the Public Procurement Office ( Urząd Zamówień Publicznych ), where she became Deputy Head. In the 2001 parliamentary elections , she stood for the citizens' platform and won a seat for the Sejm with 16,716 votes . At the same time, she was chairwoman of the citizens' platform for the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship from 2001 to 2005. In the parliamentary elections in 2005 she was able to win a seat in the Sejm again. In 2006 she ran unsuccessfully for the post of mayor of Bydgoszcz. Teresa Piotrowska ran again in the early elections in 2007 and was able to renew her mandate with 12,558 votes. In 2011 she was re-elected to the Sejm.

Teresa Piotrowska has been married since 1982 and has one son.
