Life

Tomasz Siemoniak studied at the Warsaw School of Economics ( SGH ) and received a scholarship at the University of Duisburg . During his studies he was a member of the Independent Student Union and was its chairman for the Warsaw School of Economics. From 1994 to 1996 he worked at Telewizja Polska , where, among other things, he was director of the 1st program. In 1997 he became the coordinator of the Media and Democracy program of the Instytut Spraw Publicznych ( Institute for Public Affairs ). In 1998 he became the director of the Department of Press and Information in the Ministry of Defense and remained in this position until 2000. During the same period he was a member of the Warsaw Centrum municipal council . From December 2000 to July 2002 he was deputy mayor of Warsaw. At the same time he was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the Polish press agency ( Polska Agencja Prasowa ) from 1998 to 2002 . From 2002 to 2006, Siemoniak was a member of the board of Polskie Radio . From November 2006 to November 2007 he was Vice Marshal of the Masovian Voivodeship . On November 26, 2007, he was made State Secretary , and thus Deputy Minister, of the Ministry of the Interior. On August 2, 2011, he finally took over the post of Polish Defense Minister from Bogdan Klich , who had resigned on July 29, 2011 due to serious omissions on the part of the Polish military in connection with the plane crash near Smolensk . He held this office until the opposition won the election; his successor is the PiS politician Antoni Macierewicz .

Tomasz Siemoniak is married and has two children.
