Stanislaw Kalemba
Stanisław Kalemba (born October 25, 1947 in Piekary ) is a Polish politician. From July 31, 2012 to March 17, 2014 he was Polish Minister of Agriculture ( Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ) under Donald Tusk . He resigned because he was unable to implement government-affected measures against African swine fever . The resignation was preceded by massive protests by Polish pig farmers. His successor as minister is Marek Sawicki , who was also his predecessor.
Kalemba graduated from the Agricultural University ( Uniwersytet Przyrodniczy ) in Poznan in 1980 . In 1975 he had joined the Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe (today: PSL). Kalemba has been a member of his party in the Sejm several times since 1991 (of the 38th district - Piła ) : 1991–1993, 1993–1997, 1997–2001, 2001–2005, 2005–2007, 2007–2011 and since 2011. In 2004 he ran unsuccessfully for a mandate in the European Parliament . Kalemba is an honorary citizen of the cities of Grodzisk Wielkopolski (2008) and Zbąszyń (2009).
