Janusz Piechociński

Janusz Piechociński (born March 15, 1960 in Studzianki ) is a Polish politician. He was a member of the Sejm in the I., II., IV., VI and VII . Electoral term. From 2012 to 2015 he was chairman of the Farmers' Party (PSL) and also Minister of Economics and Deputy Prime Minister.

Life

In 1987 Piechociński completed his studies in the field of domestic trade at the Szkoła Główna Planowania i Statystyki , where he also worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Economic History from 1987-1999.

In 1987 he joined the Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe party . In 1989 he was a participant in the round table talks in Poland. From January to June 1990 Janusz Piechociński held the position of treasurer in the PSL . He is a member of the Sejm of the VII. Electoral term and was also in the I., II., IV. And VI. Period represented in parliament. In the IV. Tenure, he was chairman of the Sejmkommission for infrastructure, however, these lost during an inspection occurred re-election in 2005. 2002 he stood for mayor of Warsaw for election as a candidate of the election committee Centrum Samorządowe "Nasza Stolica" , reaching a total of 14 Applicants in ninth place with 0.48% of the vote. In 2004 he ran for the office of chairman of the PSL , but lost it to Janusz Wojciechowski . In 2006 he won a mandate in the Sejmik of the Masovian Voivodeship . In the parliamentary elections in 2007 he started in the constituency outside Warsaw, where he received 13,259 votes. He ran unsuccessfully in the 2009 European elections . In the parliamentary elections in 2011 , he was re-elected in which he received 11,638 votes. In November 17, 2012 at the PSL party congress in Pruszków , the party's leadership positions were filled. In the election for chairman Janusz Piechociński won with 547 delegates voting for him and prevailed against the chairman Waldemar Pawlak (530 votes) , who had been the chairman to date . The term of office for this function is four years. On December 6th of the same year he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economics. Five days later he was appointed to the National Security Council ( Rada Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego ) by then President Bronisław Komorowski .

Because of the poor result in the 2015 parliamentary election and because he did not win a mandate himself, Piechociński resigned as party leader after the election.
