Marcin Korolec is a graduate of the University of Warsaw, where he studied history and law and administration. From June 1993 to December of the following year he worked as a lawyer in a law firm. In 2005 he spent four months at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a contract law attorney. In 1996 he graduated from the École nationale d'administration ( National School of Administration ) in Paris . From June 1997 to March 1998 he worked again in a law firm. In March 1998 Korolec became assistant to Jan Kułakowski , and in 1999 adviser to Jan Kułakowski , who was the representative of the Polish government for negotiations on EU accession . In 2001 he changed as a consultant in the Office for European Integration of the Polish Foreign Ministry under Danuta Hübner, which he remained until 2004. From October 2004 to November 2005, Marcin Korolec was a member of the Euroidea organization , which he advised on EU funding. On November 23, 2005 he became Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Economy in the government of Jarosław Kaczyński . He remained so under the following government under Donald Tusk . In 2010 he became a member of the National Council for Environmental Protection and Water Management. In April 2011 he became the Polish representative in the International Renewable Energy Organization (IRENA). In 2011 he became a member of the EU-Russia Gas Council.

On November 18, 2011, he became Environment Minister, succeeding Andrzej Kraszewski in Donald Tusk's second term.

With the beginning of the UN Climate Change Conference in Warsaw ( COP 19 ), he assumed the presidency of the UNFCCC summit on November 11, 2013. On November 27, 2013, he was dismissed as environment minister as part of a cabinet reshuffle.

Marcin Korolec is married and has four children.
