Małgorzata Omilanowska

Małgorzata Omilanowska (born April 10, 1960 in Warsaw ) is a Polish historian and politician.

Scientific career

After studying at the historical faculty of the University of Warsaw and the architectural faculty of the Technical University of Berlin , she received a scholarship from the British Academy . After that she worked at the Polish Academy of Sciences . In 1999 she was appointed assistant director. Omilanowska taught at numerous institutions, including in Germany . She was also a lecturer at the University of Gdańsk , whose Institute for Art History she headed until 2008.

Political career

In 2012 Omilanowska was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. In 2014 she succeeded Bogdan Zdrojewski as Minister of Culture and National Heritage. With the change of government after the parliamentary elections on October 25, 2015 , her term as minister also ended.
