Teresa "Tessa" Strauss (born November 18, 1995 in Mödling ) is an Austrian beach volleyball player .

Career

Teresa Strauss forms a duo with her twin sister Nadine Strauss . In 2011 she became Austrian U18 champion and U20 runner-up. The Strauss sisters finished seventh at the U18 European Championship in Brno in 2012 and a week later they came fifth at the U19 World Championship in Larnaka . At the Grand Slam in Klagenfurt they played their first tournament on the FIVB World Tour and they finished fifth at the U20 European Championship in Hartberg . In 2013 they took part in other youth tournaments. After a 17th place finish at the U21 World Championship in Umag and a fifth place at the U19 World Championship in Porto they won a third of the U20 European Championship in Vilnius her first international medal and came immediately afterwards in the U22 European Championship in Varna on ninth place. In addition, the sisters became Austrian U20 champions in 2012 and 2013. In 2014 they finished fifth at the U21 World Cup in Larnaka after some top placements in national tournaments. They also took part in the Klagenfurt Grand Slam again. At the U20 European Championship in Cesenatico they were only defeated in the final by the Swiss duo Betschart / Eiholzer , while they had to be content with 17th place at the U22 tournament in Fethiye . In 2015 the sister duo were not active internationally because Teresa Strauss preferred to concentrate on her studies.

In 2016, however, the Strauss sisters returned. In addition to the Cincinnati Open and the major tournament in Klagenfurt, they mainly played CEV satellite tournaments this year . They achieved a ninth place in Baden and second places in Timișoara and Skopje . In 2017, Nadine Strauss had to undergo an operation on her shoulder after the tournament in Xiamen . Teresa therefore played the following FIVB tournaments in Rio de Janeiro and The Hague with Lena Plesiutschnig and Stefanie Schwaiger . At the Baden Masters she finished ninth with Bianca Zass . For the world championship in Vienna she received one of three wild cards in a duo with Katharina Holzer . Holzer / Strauss were eliminated without a win after the group stage.
