Tetjana Posdnjakowa ( Ukrainian Тетяна Позднякова , English transcription Tetyana Pozdnyakova ; born March 4, 1956 in Sosnovo-Oserskoye ) is a former Ukrainian middle and long-distance runner .

Life

At the World Cross Country Championships she was ninth in Madrid in 1981 and eleventh in Rome in 1982 , where she won gold with the Soviet team. At the European Athletics Championships in Athens in 1982 , she was fourth over 3000 m . In 1983 she won bronze in the individual and silver in the team classification at the Cross Country World Championships in Gateshead . At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1984 in Gothenburg, she won silver over 3000 m. With a 19th place at the 1985 World Cross Country Championship , she again contributed to a silver win for the Soviet team. At the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 1991 , she finished 13th over 10,000 m .

In 1994 she was second in the Houston Marathon , in 1995 she won there and the Philadelphia Half Marathon and was seventh in the Chicago Marathon . In 1996 she was the first to cross the finish line in Houston, but was tested positive for the substances pseudoephedrine and ephedrine contained in cold medicines and was then disqualified. In 1997 she won the Cleveland Marathon. The following year she defended her title in Cleveland and finished fifth in Chicago. In 1999 she won in Houston, finished second in Cleveland and won the Ocean State Marathon. In 2000 she triumphed for the third time in Houston, won the Naples Half Marathon and came fourth in the Twin Cities Marathon .

In 2001 she finished fourth in the Pittsburgh Marathon and, as the winner of the Ocean State Marathon , set a world best time of 2:30:28 h for the W45 age group. The following year, she improved this mark to 2:30:26 h as second in the Los Angeles Marathon , won the Flying Pig Marathon and was second in the Ocean State Marathon with the current age group record of 2:29:00 h . In 2003 and 2004 she won in Los Angeles, and in 2005 she was fifth there with 2:31:05 h, the current record in the W50 age group. In 2006, a sixth place in Los Angeles was followed by a victory in the Austin Marathon .

In 1980 and 1989 she was the Soviet champion over 3000 m, 1989 over 5000 m and 1991 over 10,000 m. She was Ukrainian champion in the 1500 m in 1992 and in the 10,000 m in 1995.
