The Pink Spiders are an American pop-punk band from Nashville , Tennessee, that formed in 2003. The original band members were Matt Friction (guitar and vocals), Jon Decious (bass) and Bob Ferrari. In the current line-up, Matt Friction is the only one of the founding members.

In January 2004, the Pink Spiders' first EP was released under the name The Pink Spiders Are Taking Over! by SPAT! Records that includes seven songs. In summer 2004 they signed a contract with CI Records. In January 2005 her debut album Hot Pink was released , which contains eleven songs. During a tour, the band members had to stay in an underpass in New York City . They also donated blood plasma to fund the tour. Just three months after the first album was released, The Pink Spiders received offers from several record labels. In April 2005 they signed with Geffen Records. The American music magazine Alternative Press listed the group as one of the "100 bands you have to know in 2006".

In August 2006, the band released their second album called Teenage Graffiti , which was produced by Ric Ocasek . This includes new recordings of the first album and new songs; in addition, the single Little Razorblade was released . The Pink Spiders toured with numerous well-known bands such as 30 Seconds to Mars , Good Charlotte , Yellowcard , Meg & Dia , All Time Low , Sugarcult , Damone , Kill Hannah and Fall Out Boy for their album, and played on the 2006 Warped Tour Single gained huge popularity and was featured on MTV . It reached number 12 on the US charts.

In February 2007 The Pink Spiders released the single The Chase under the label SPAT! Records. In September 2008 the third album Sweat It Out was released . The single Gimme Chemicals was released in August 2008. In March 2008, the band announced that the school bus they had bought for a tour had burned down on the route between Nashville and Atlanta , and with it all the things they had with them. As a result, some performances had to be canceled.

In the summer of 2008 the band members were replaced. Jon Decious and Bob Ferrari left the group and new members joined. On their summer tour Tapped Kegs, Spread Legs & Fertilized Eggs in 2008, The Pink Spiders released the EP Subterranean EP , which included previously unreleased versions of the album Sweat It Out and two B-sides .
