The Suburbans - The Beat Goes On! ( The Suburbans ) is an American musical film directed by Donal Lardner Ward from the year 1999 .

action

The music group The Suburbans , made up of Danny, Rory, Mitch and Gil, had a hit in the early 1980s. The band plays at Gil's wedding, which is attended by talent scout Cate. She persuades the band members to appear on a television show.

It turns out that the image of the musician no longer has anything in common with the contemporary, bourgeois life of men. The previous fans are no longer interested in the band.

Reviews

Janet Maslin described the film in the New York Times on October 29, 1999 as a "funny", "fun" and "nice" "little movie". However, some scenes would look familiar and a little boring ("domestic scenes drag on a bit").

The magazine prisma wrote that the film was a "cool satire on the music business".

background

The film was in Monrovia ( California turned). It had its world premiere on January 25, 1999 at the Sundance Film Festival . The film was shown in 11 cinemas in the USA and grossed around 6,000 US dollars .
