The Thing Called Love is a 1993 film directed by Peter Bogdanovich and produced in the United States .
action
The New Yorker Miranda Presley is an emerging songwriter . After a long bus ride through the USA, she arrives in Nashville , Tennessee . But she's too late to audition at the Bluebird Cafe. She won't have the chance again for a week. She uses the time and ponders new songs in the diner all night. On the day of her arrival, Miranda met the gruff Texan James Wright and his buddy, Kyle Davidson, who is unhappily in love with Miranda, and the crazy Linda Lue Linden.
On a trip to Graceland , James Miranda makes a wedding proposal with a ring from the gumball machine. They get married immediately on a rainy evening in the supermarket. James is getting more and more successful and the marriage is on the brink of failure as he only cares about his career and neglects Miranda.
Miranda sees her dream of finding happiness and success in Nashville wane and wants to leave the city again. On the drive out of town, she discovers the refrain for a new song: "Maybe God's a woman too". She returns and this time succeeds in auditioning at the Bluebird Cafe.
The film tells in a very simple but very touching way about the dream of realizing yourself and maybe even having success in the process. About the friendship of different people and of course also about what a precious good love is.
